Wednesday, 30th of March

Today we made some groups to do work related to the subject of this year, we had to do five groups of five persons and chosen for one of this topics:

1.Epicurus was an important philosopher that lived in Ancient Greece.
He founded a philosophy called Epicureanism. It was based on getting the
happines and tranquility through fulfilment of pleasures.
The most of his works disappeared, because Christianity condemned his philosophy. He founded a system of philosophy based upon the teachings of him called
epicureanism arround 307 BC. Basically he believed in Ataraxia that means perfect happiness. In Epicurus opinion to achieve Ataraxia you should avoid pain.

2.Socrates was an important individual who certainly left his mark on how people evaluate the world around them, and his ideas still shape a lot of educational philosophy and logia thought. All the scientist who lived before Socrates were called the pre-Socrates. Socrates died for his beliefs about citizenship and he died under the death penalty. Socrates believed that bad behaviour was the result of lack of knowledge and could be corrected through learning and better understanding.

3.Plato was born in Athens in 428BC. He was a classical greek philosopher and matemathican. Student of Socrates, writer of philosophical dialogues, and founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. Along with his mentor, Socrates, and his student, Aristotle, Plato helped to lay the foundations of Western philosophy and science. The most important virtues of him was, Wisdom: Apply laws, Courage and Moderation.

4.Stoicism derives its name from the Painted Porch in the market place... of Athens, where it was first taught. It was founded by Zeno of Citium (or Cyprus) (335-263 BC) and became one of the two principal philosophical schools of the Hellenistic world. Later Stoics believed that the universe was created by fire and would be destroyed by fire, before being created again. People who believed in this ethics were called “Stoics”. The stoics have a very negative idea about pleasure and emotions, so their goal is to have a clear mind. They defended that the emotions can get in the way of your performance in your daily life. For example, if someone that you love so much dies, you don't have to cry because probably you are going to do in a badway your job or your obligations.

After every group chose his topic, we put to do the work of the philosopher who we existed it touches. . Meghan helped us each group to organize and do the job. When we had done the work we have to do a presentation and then an examination, which was opposed by the majority of the class.
